Huli Huli Turkey Drumsticks Recipe

A Hawaiian BBQ twist on turkey drumsticks, marinated in the famous Azeka’s Maui Original Sauce, grilled to perfection, and smothered in green onions for a flavorful, caramelized finish.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large turkey drumsticks
  • 1 cup Azeka’s Maui Original Sauce, plus extra for serving
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for grilling)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prep the Drumsticks

Pat the turkey drumsticks dry with a paper towel. This helps the marinade adhere better.

Step 2: Marinate the Turkey

Place the drumsticks in a large resealable bag or a shallow dish. Pour Azeka’s Maui Original Sauce over them, ensuring each drumstick is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to overnight for deeper flavor).

Step 3: Preheat & Prep the Grill

  • Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350-375°F).
  • Lightly oil the grates with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.

Step 4: Grill to Perfection

  1. Remove the drumsticks from the marinade and shake off excess sauce.
  2. Grill over indirect heat for 45-50 minutes, turning every 10-15 minutes.
  3. Brush additional marinade onto the drumsticks during the last 10 minutes for extra caramelization.
  4. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 175-180°F and the skin is beautifully caramelized.

Step 5: Garnish & Serve

Transfer the drumsticks to a serving platter, sprinkle generously with chopped green onions, and serve with extra Azeka’s Maui Original Sauce on the side for dipping.

For even crispier skin, crank up the heat to 400°F for the last 5 minutes of grilling!
