Savory Salmon Pie with Azeka’s Sauce

This warm, comforting salmon pie is perfect for chilly evenings when you want something cozy, hearty, and satisfying. Flaky salmon is baked with vegetables in a rich, savory filling enhanced by Azeka’s Sauce, then topped with a golden crust for the ultimate cold-weather comfort dish.

The sauce adds depth and balance to the creamy filling, tying everything together with a subtle sweet-savory finish that makes every bite feel indulgent without being heavy.

Ingredients

Serves 4–6

For the filling:

  • 1½ pounds fresh salmon fillets, skin removed and cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • ½ cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • ¼ cup Azeka’s Soy Sauce or Azeka’s Maui Original Sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the topping (choose one):

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
    or
  • 2½ cups mashed potatoes

Optional garnish:

  • Chopped fresh parsley or green onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a baking dish or deep pie dish.
  2. Cook the vegetables
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and carrots and cook for 4–5 minutes, until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Create the sauce base
Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir well. Cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste. Slowly stir in the cream and broth, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly.
  4. Add Azeka’s Sauce
Stir in Azeka’s Sauce and season lightly with black pepper. Taste and adjust if needed.
  5. Add the salmon and peas
Gently fold in the salmon and peas. Remove from heat once combined—the salmon will finish cooking in the oven.
  6. Assemble the pie
Transfer the filling to the prepared baking dish. Top evenly with puff pastry or spread mashed potatoes over the filling.
  7. Bake
Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges. If using puff pastry, brush lightly with egg wash for extra color, if desired.
  8. Rest and serve
Let the pie rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
